Immediate past Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has visited Aso Rock, Abuja to brief President Muhammadu Buhari on the Mali Crisis.
This was contained in a statement issued by the presidential Spokesperson, Femi Adesina, on thursday.
According to him, the visit was to brief President Buhari on the political development in Mali.
The president according to him reinstated that Nigeria’s interference in Mali’s Crisis will be according to the laid down principles of ECOWAS, noted that nobody can love Mali more than the Malians themselves.
The spokesperson further disclosed that ECOWAS will be meeting on Sunday in Ghana to discuss the ways forward on how lasting peace can return to the West African state.
“I am pleased you have briefed the ECOWAS Chairman too, “Nigeria will work within ECOWAS limitations to assist Mali. Every country has its issues. We fought our own Civil War before, so we may not know the totality of the internal politics of each country. But we will make as much sacrifice as we can for Mali, within ECOWAS requirements.” Buhari said.
