The coalition of Arewa Youth Groups, has called on the newly elected Director General of the National Intellegence Agency (NIA) Ambassador Ahmed Abubakar Rufa’i, to voluntrily resign from his reappointment, else they will be forced to stage a protest against him.
The Northern Groups, an amalgamation of over 40 Youth Groups in Northern Nigeria, said the appointment of Amb. Ahmed is uncalled for due to his past record of incompetence.
The communique, jointly signed by the Chairman Communique drafting committee, Dr. Kabir Dan-Azumi, Secretary, Communique drafting committee, Comrade I B Bala and the Coalition of Arewa Youth Groups, Mal. Iliyasu Danlad.
In their Statements, they noted that it is the duty of the President to appoint the NIA DG, but he should have consuted with the National Security Adviser for input and guidance before validating the appointment.
Their findings also revealed that President Buhari is being passive as a sentimentalist, due to the appointment, as most security agencies are been headed by Northerners.
They expressed that the appointment was an opportunity to clear the image of Mr President by bringing in a southern into his security architecture.
“From findings, Amb. Ahmed is a very dull individual who failed exams 3 different times to get promotion to director and he was retired compulsory due to his inability to pass his promotional exams but here we are giving him opportunity to serve over those that knows how poor his intelligences.
“Amb Ahmed reappointment is more of a curse than a blessing to NIA. As it stand there will be an awkward relationship between the directors, staffs and the DG

They called on President Buhari to withdraw the appointment because the move has generated internal crisis in the agency, disclosed that the agency is headed for failure and loosing out in it mandates.
