Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN) has called on residents of Kaduna State to live in peace and harmony with each other regardless of their differences.
The Chairman, CAN Kaduna State Chapter, Rev. Dr. Joseph John Hayap, made the call on Wednesday, said the African culture and their religion does not permit the barbaric killing of fellow human beings going on in the State.
Hayap, while reacting to the sad news of the killing of a Herder in Kaduna that led to the renewed circle of massacres, called on stakeholders to join hands and bring an end to the unwanton killings of innocent people in the State.
The Cleric also expressed that Kidnapping, Banditry, assults on communities and the killings of innocent people has painted Kaduna State black hence the state is always on the news for the wrong reasons.
“Kaduna state received with sadness, the news of the killing of a herder in Kaduna which has led to a renewed circle of massacres. The development is tragic, therefore, CAN appeal to citizens and all stakeholders to join hands to bring to a stop this new wave of killings.
“Our dear State has been on the news for the wrong reasons which include banditry, kidnapping, assaults on communities and killings of innocent citizens.” He said
Hayap enjoined peace lovers to as a matter of priority speak up in time like this, rather than keeping quiet at the State’s peril because handing over such a disastrous record to the next generation when others are struggling to get out of poverty is not an option.
“We cannot pass this type of record to the next generation. When others are struggling to get out of poverty to become self-reliant we are now famous for killing others at every slight provocation. We should therefore, strengthen our love for one another and value the sanctity of human life.” He added.
He urged citizens to resolve in such a way that no life is sacrificed from now henceforth irrespective of the identity of victims.
CAN according to him is willing to work with all peace-loving individuals, groups and organisations to bring back the lost glory of Kaduna State and uphold the sanctity of human life.
