The Honourable Commissioner for Internal security and Home affairs, Hon. Samuel Aruwan, has called on peace lovers across board to put more efforts to ensure that morality is restored back to the society.
Aruwan made the call on Sunday in Kaduna, while Speaking at the annual archdiocesan Lenten Campaign Flag-off organised by the Archdiocese of Kaduna on the theme “Rekindling Hope in the Nigerian Project”, said Our society has for so long been riddled with cracks of mutual suspicion and strife.
In his remarks, he noted that Nigeria at this time is faced with several significant challenges at various levels of society, meanwhile, government, religious institutions, among other groups must seek to forge a more cohesive identity, and prosperous future for the country.
He said “There has never been a better time than now to re-ignite the light hope in the hearts of all Nigerians.
“It is true that our country is faced with several significant challenges at this time. At various levels of society – government, religious institutions, civil society and socio-cultural groups – we all seek to forge a more cohesive identity, and prosperous future for our country.
“I seize this opportunity to enjoin us all as citizens, and as members of this great Institution, to make this Lenten Campaign the beginning of a moral revolution. Our society has for so long been riddled with cracks of mutual suspicion and strife. While the responsibility of Government is to ensure security, citizens have an important role to play in fostering peace, mutual understanding, and harmony. Extending hands across divides will dissipate tension and acrimony and spark off a new wave of hope in our land.
“I make a call also to each of us as leaders in our own right. We ourselves must cease from being merchants of doom, revenge, negativity, and instead become wellsprings of hope. No matter how bleak the situation may seem, it is our duty to consistently radiate hope. Hope is a necessity of life. As leaders of the community and of the Church, as custodians of culture and leaders of thought, we have a divine duty to rebuild trust, and nurture it to full reality in Kaduna State.” He said.
Aruwan further stressed that the Government of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, since 2015 placed keen focus on improving the socio-economic prospects of citizens, creating frameworks for social investment, expanding access, renewing infrastructure, and boosting investments for job creation at all levels, stressed that the Government has always welcomed the engagement of reputable institutions and credible groups, towards partnering for broader. all-inclusive development.
He added that the Lenten Campaign topic is apt on the ground that the message and the spirit of hope will go out strongly, rekindle faith in common humanity, and as a result Kaduna State and the Nigeria project will become very close possibilities.
