The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Kaduna State Council, Comrade Asma’u Yawo Halilu, has again extended a hand of fellowship to aggrieved members, on issues that emanated from the council’s Election, last year.
Asma’u in an exclusive interview with NewsPort Nigeria, while reacting to the appeal made by the National President of the union, High Chief Chris Isiguzo, to bring every member of the union together, said peace is the universal cravings of every mankind.
The NUJ Chairman who was also the Chairman of correspondence chapel, said her administration intended to run an inclusive Government and as a result would not relent until the aim and objectives are achieved.
She noted that she has been able to write her name in gold with lots of milestones achieved under the period of five months, urged members for their full support even as development is a collective efforts.
“Like you all know, I started the peace walk efforts, two weeks after i assumed office. This is because I intended to run an inclusive Government.
“The efforts so far have yielded positive results, that is why you can see today that most of the aggrieved members are back, pledged their supports and today we are working together for the upliftment of the council. as partner in progress under the Nigeria Union of Journalists” She added.
The first Female council Chairman in Northern Nigeria also disclosed that the aggrieved members are no longer up to 3%, noted that she has been on top of the game to ensure that everybody is accommodated as a United body and will continue to do that in the interest of the profession.
Some of the achievements of the Hajiya Asma’u’s led administration that was commissioned last week includes the acquisition of the NUJ bus donated to the council by the Senator representing Kaduna central, Senator Uba Sani, donation of conference Chairs by Sardaunan Badarawa, renovation and transformation of toilet into modern facilities, barricades of the NUJ premises to control the influx of non members, provision of Office for the correspondence chapel of the NUJ, allocation of Office site for SWAN, Sporting facilities, among others.
