www.newsportng.com.ng – Kaduna Gubernatorial Aspirant, Dr. Andrew Duya, has emerged the flag bearer of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, (APGA) in the just concluded primary elections.
Dr. Andrew, emerged unopposed after other aspirants withdrew from the race on Sunday.
Speaking to Journalists after the exercise, he appreciated the party leaders, delegates and other stakeholders, promised to fight for the course with all his strength and everything he has got.
He said “This is a responsibility that I wholeheartedly accepted. It is a challenge and I am not under any illusion that is going to be an easy task. It is a huge task but then myself and my team and the leadership of APGA both in the state and at the national level we are up to the task. I accept the task and I want to assure all asundry that better days are coming to Kaduna State.
“We are going to work and ensure that we win the election by the grace of God. I accept this challenge and I am going to pursue it with all my strength and everything that God has given me.” Dr. Andrew said.
The Aspirant further disclosed that the major responsibility of government is to ensure the welfare of the citizenry, stressed that his administration will focus on how to address the insecurity challenges bedeviling the state if elected.
He also said that he will involve every community in whatever project the government would embarked, noted that the mentality of people on government owned project will be corrected as part of his plan to give everybody a sense of belonging.
“We must accept that the primary purpose of government is to ensure safety and welfare of people. Others may have tried in their own way but we will do something differently by ensuring that there is safety for our lives and properties that our people can sleep with their two eyes closed, farmers going to their farm and everybody be freed to pursue their businesses and whatever gives them joy and happiness.
“I have idea about security. I was in the police force for 16-years so I understand security. I have also worked with both local and international NGOs, so we know the purpose that led to that. As government, the government has all the power and resources whether the resources are Human or material the government has it. It is just the willingness to deploy such resources and tackle the issue.
“The government has the power, has everything to tackle the insecurity but why are they not doing it is the question we cannot answer. But we have other strategies that we cannot reveal here.
“What we will do differently is that we involve every Community in whatever project we are doing. This mentality of seeing every project as government project, we will do away with that. We will do things that will make the people know that this project is theirs. There is nothing like government. I have asked people who is government.
“If the government is all about people, then every Community should see any project cited in their area as their own and then they will take responsibility of the safety and protection. That will be our own approach to development. We will not just cite project in the name of citing project. We will make sure the Communities themselves request for what they need. Every Community have their own need and we will make sure we work with the Communities to do what they want not what the government want. We will carry the people along so that they can see it as their own project, so they can see it as they are the owners not the government. ” He added.
