Munira Suleiman Tanimu, has expressed optimism following the awakening of women in politics. – Political narratives
Hon. Munira, while Fielding questions from Journalists, shortly after a one day sensitization and enlightenment meeting with women contestants and other stakeholders in Kaduna, said women will change the political narratives in Nigeria, come 2023.
While reacting to the figure presented by the Kaduna State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Asma’u Sani Maikudi, where she disclosed that women constitutes 50% registrants in the just concluded Continuously Voters Card, (CVR) exercise, the philanthropist, said Nigerian women are out to ensure gender balancing in the Nigeria political space.
She also lamented over what she termed as women’s marginalization in the Nigeria political cycle, adding that women inclusiveness will reposition the country for greater opportunities.
Speaking further, she noted that her political aspiration is aimed to salvage Lere-East Constituency, thereby giving them better representation against any form of misrepresentation.
Munira, also stressed that her aspiration is not for personal gain but to help look into some of the things bothering the rural Communities in her Constituency.
She said: “I will sponsor bills that are going to affect the rural people, which are always left behind. So many things have happened in the urban areas so I want to focus on the rural areas.
“I want to include women in politics. I want to include them in other businesses that can help them sustain themselves and also the problem of rape that has engulfed our society. Most of these women takes care of their children but do not have sustainability because of that, they sent their children to hawk and nobody is talking about them.”
Munira urged women at all levels of government to ensure they come out en mass and support female contestants, even as winning is a collective effort.
