http://www.newsportng.com.ng The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Kaduna State, Dr. Asma’u Sani Maikudi, has assured Nigerians who registered for their continuous Voters Registration, (CVR) ahead of the 2023 general elections that their Permanent Voters Card, (PVC) will be ready for collection by October and November, 2022.
Dr. Asma’u, made this known during a one day sensitization and enlightenment meeting with women contestants and other stakeholders in Kaduna, said the Commission is working tirelessly to ensure no Stone is left on top.
The INEC boss while reiterating their commitment towards a credible poll, noted that women constitutes 50% of registered voters in the just concluded registeration. – CVR
She also applauded women for their unrelenting efforts in showing commitment to nation building through politics, adding that women in positions of leadership have shown competence and diligence in their service.
Speaking further at the one day sensitization Programme, Dr. Maikudi urged government at all levels, to create more avenue for women in politics to express their potentials, adding that any nation that does not recognise its women and their capacity is doomed to failure.
She said: “There’s no gain saying that women in positions of leadership have shown competence and diligence in their service. Any nation that does not recognise its women and their capacity is doomed to failure.
“Women need men to support them to achieve their full potential and bring in their expertise to move the country forward.
Hajiya Asma’u further appreciated the Governor of kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El-rufai, for running an inclusive government, revealed that he has transformed Kaduna State as a shining example of how to engage women in governance and development.
“Back home in Nigeria, HE Malam Nasir El -Rufai must be commended for being a He-for-She and a role model. He has transformed Kaduna State as a shining example of how to engage women in governance and development. It is the only state in the nation that is boasting of going beyond the United Nations Affirmative Action of 35% but now has 47% of women in appointive positions in the state.
“Women of Kaduna have made invaluable contributions and unrelenting efforts to drive development and growth in the state, the state’s deputy governor who is a woman, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe has proved her mettle and is going down into history as the only woman to be elected Deputy Governor for a 1-term and contesting into the same position, for the 2023 general elections.” She added. – CVR
