http://www.newsportng.com.ng African Democratic Congress, (ADC) has promised to lay a new foundation to rebuild a citadel of poor governance, indifference and insensitivity blunder, characterised by past governments in Nigeria, since the end of first republic.
The Director General, DG Campaign of ADC, Comrade Suleiman Abdul’aziz, stated this during the launch of the North-west chapter development lecture series, held at the Arewa House in Kaduna, adding that the party is set to offer Nigerians a breath of fresh air of given the mandate, come 2023.
According to him, Nigeria politicians only play politics to achieve their selfish interest against the general good of the people, adding that the notion is contrary to the ideology of ADC, that preaches unity, and open opportunities for the Nigeria populace.
He further stressed that: “A few months from now, Nigerians, particularly the youth, would troop out to offer a verdict over their future in the February 2023 elections.
“Today’s meeting will as well mark the corner stone for a massive mobilization of a people desperate for credible and accountable leadership, to defy decades of entrenched sentiments that had fed the fiction that there are multiple Nigerians, the Nigeria of the Yoruba, the Nigeria of the Igbo, and the Nigeria of the Hausa/Fulani; the Nigeria of Muslims and the Nigeria of Christians.
“Nigeria is made up of more than 300 ethnic groups with varying cultures that had lived separately for centuries before the British brought them together. And for Nigeria to develop, it needs to come together for every member to have a common sense of belonging.
“The country can only witness development if there is adequate security. Foreign investors will establish industries when they are convinced that properties will not be destroyed either because of political, religious or ethnic crises. I believe what is important is to lay claim to being Nigerian and having interests and concerns that are Nigerian without reluctance or shame.
“Our past leaders carved a glorious path for our development as a people. Then imbibed a governance, the culture of coexistence As the late Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello who lay a few meters from where I stand today once said, it is neither possible nor necessary to forget our differences as Nigerians, although we also have to remember the important things we share in common.
“Contrarily however, one of the major Nigeria’s biggest problems today, is that politicians do not play politics in the interest of the nation, instead they play it to achieve their personal interest to the detriment of the people. But as the universal saying goes, there is always an exception to every general rule and the only obvious exception today, is the ADC which preaches unity, the promotion of co-operation and opens opportunity through which different parts will come together to function as a whole.” He said.
Also addressing Journalists shortly after the event, the National Secretary, ADC Alh. Baba Abdullahi, said “the party is optimistic that it will emerged victoriously in the forthcoming general elections’, reiterating that “insecurity, economic crisis among other challenges ravaging the country, will give them added advantage.”
He stressed that ADC Will provide Nigerians the country of their dreams, where everybody can sleep with their two eyes closed without fear of terriorists attack, while urging Nigerians to seize the opportunity for the common good of all.
National chairman of the party, Chief Raph Okey Nwosu, who applauded relevant stakeholders at the event reiterated that the gathering is just a clue of what the campaign will be.
Chief Nwosu further disclosed that the ADC campaign will be massive in all the states, rejoined Nigerians to vote massively for a prosperous Nigeria, both from the presidency to the least position. – Governance
