http://www.newsportng.com.ng Kaduna state House of Assembly, has debunked a viral story on the possible move to impeach of kaduna state Governor, Mal. Nasir El-rufai, said it is the handiwork of opposition, willing to create crisis between the executive and the legislative arm of government in the state.
This was contained in a press statement, signed onbehalf of the Honourable Speaker Kaduna state, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Zailani, by his Special Assistant on media and publicity, Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani.
It could be recalled, that report on social media went viral, saying there is credible intelligence reports that some members of Kaduna state House of Assembly met over the weekend on the planning to impeach Elrufai, over what they termed as impeacheable offences.
According to the report, 14 members of the House, most of whom were loyalists of Senator Hunkuyi and members from southern Kaduna attended the meeting, expressing their grievances over the style of leadership by the El-rufai’s led administration, including diversion of State funds and awarding of contract without due processes.
Responding to the claim, the Honourable Speaker, noted that the mischief makers are out in an attempt to deny the good people of Kaduna state the dividends of democracy they have been enjoying over the years, as a result of the bond between the legislative and the Executive arms of government.
Zailani, said, “this is simply the handiwork of opposition and enemies of progress of the relationship between the legislative arm of governent and the executive under the able leadership of Malam Nasir el-Rufai, apparantly to create crises between the legislative and the executive and in order to deny the good people of Kaduna State the dividends of democracy they are benefitting courtesy of the good working relationship between the executive and the legislative.
“The report which also said the relationship between the governor and the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Yusuf Zailani, has been frosty for quite some time now is also nothing but the figment of imagination of the writer and perhaps their sponsors.
“It is also untrue that the state lawmakers are currently investigating the expenditures of all the Ministries, Agencies and Parastatals of the state government.” Zailani said
He urged residents to disregard in entirety the report, adding that, “origin of the purported report will be thoroughly investigated with the view to bringing the perpetriators and their sponsors to book to serve as detterent to others.”
