http://www.newsportng.com.ng Deaf Sport Association, Kaduna state chapter has inaugurated a 10 man board members to help facilitate the Welfare of deaf athletes in kaduna state.
The Chairman, Deaf Sports Association, Kaduna state, Mr. Patrick Ishaya, who carried out the 10 man inauguration function in kaduna on Wednesday, said their recent performances in Kano and Abuja has paved way for the invitation of four players from kaduna state to west Africa deaf football championship, coming up in cotevoire.
Mr. Ishaya, while appreciating the efforts of the ministry of sports for support, said deaf sports in kaduna state has suffered series of setback in the years back until the present administration came to their aid.
He also disclosed that the state’s deaf athletes participated at the maiden edition of para games in Abuja in April, 2022 in Kano, where they went, saw and conquered, defeating Nasarawa State deaf school 2:1 in the finals.
Mr. Ishaya, further called on the sports ministry, to double their efforts in ensuring that deaf athletes in kaduna state are not left behind in their sport project.
“I hope the ministry of sport will give these lads the needed support to achieve their dreams. It’s my frank believe that kaduna state deserve a viable deaf sports board. I want to thank the Honourable Commissioner of sports development again for viciously approving this new board for the first time in the history of deaf sports in kaduna state.
“Our major challenge is the fact that most of them do not have international passport. Also, the cost of transportation to the camp and their feeding is a huge challenge on our part. So am appealing to the sports ministry to come to our aid in those areas.” He said.
Also speaking with newsmen shortly after the event, the representative from the state’s ministry of education, Mr. Bara’u Suleiman, said the ministry will support the team within their reach to ensure success.
He called on the team to remain focus so as to be able to improve their means of livelihood through sporting activities.
Mr. Dan’asabe Mustapha suleiman, who is the PRO, deaf sport association, kaduna state, while speaking for colleagues, said they will remain committed to portray the image of the association in good light.
