Hon. Usman Ibrahim popularly known as Sardaunan Badarawa has emerged the winner of People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) Re-run Primary election held on Monday 7th, Nov. 2022.
Sardaunan Badarawa got 210 out of 221 total vote cast, beating his closest rival, Lawal Adamu known as Mr. LA who garnered 5 votes of 223 delegates accredited from seven local Government Areas that make up Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone.
It could be recalled that the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna, on Nov. 2, 2022 nullified the primary election that produced Mr. Lawal Adamu, due to an established case of over voting.
Justice Mohammed Garba Umar of the Federal high court, Kaduna in his ruling, ordered PDP to conduct fresh primary within 14-days.
While announcing the result, Chairman of the Rerun primary election, Mr. Istifanus Caleb said Sardaunan Badarawa scored the highest number of vote cast, declaring him winner and candidate of PDP 2023 Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone.
He said out of 223 accredited delegates expected to vote in the exercise, 221 cast their votes, declaring four invalid.
Caleb added that Mr. LA and Prof. Usman Mohammed came second and third with five and two votes respectively, during the exercise.
The Local govt Areas that participated in the primary election are; Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Igabi, Giwa, Birnin-Gwari, Kajuru and Chikun.
He adjudged the election as transparent, peaceful and credible, adding that all delegates who participated in the election voted aspirants of their choices without duress nor compulsion .
