http://www.newsportng.com.ng As Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-rufai bid players farewell, Zango-kataf Local Government Area, has emerged winner of the Kaduna state 7th Sport Festival for the 2022 edition with a total of 18 medals.
The state’s sport Festival kicked-off Nov. 8, at the popular Ahmadu Bello Stadium with players competing in different games: Football, Cricket, Racing, Handball, among others.
Makarfi Local Government came 2nd with 14 medals, while Giwa and Chikun had 12 respectively. Others are Kudan 8, Kauru 4, sabon gari 8, jaba 9, kachia 9, jama 6, Lere 8, Kajuru 6, kaura 2, igabi 2, Kaduna North 2, Soba 1, Kagoro 1.
In his remarks at the concluding ceremony of the event, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-rufai, said he is honoured to witness the last Sport Festival as Governor of the state, noting that sport remains a uniting factor and as such government at all levels must give attention to bring out more potentials from the teaming youths.
He said Kaduna is blessed with several talents, adding that the state have been able to provide comfortable environment and will continue to support the players in every way possible for them to explore in their pursuit in the world of sport.
El-rufai also urged those who did not emerge to try harder in subsequent competitions, advised that failure is a message to try again until you succeed.
Speaking with Journalists shortly after the event, the state’s Commissioner for sport, Mr. Idris Samaila, applauded El-rufai for his support to ensure that sport thrive in the state.
Idris said Kaduna State is blessed to have Nasir as the No. 1 citizen, saying that kaduna players are ready to participate in the forthcoming national sport festival, in Delta State.
He noted that the Governor had given approval for the release of fund so that the players can make themselves comfortable in Delta and come back victoriously, stressing that the administration of Governor El-rufai has supported sport in all competitions.
