http://www.newsportng.com.ng Kaduna state gubernatorial candidate of labour party, Hon. Jonathan Asake has said that his administration aside security of lives and properties, will priotize women and youths in a quest to improve productivity in the state.
Asake disclosed this during a media parley held at the NUJ Secretariat in Kaduna on Friday, said criminality is a result of idleness.
According to the candidate, there are several opportunities in Kaduna that government can take advantage of and deliver the dividends of democracy to all asundry cut across the 23 LGAs of the state.
He noted that his administration will also make tuition fees affordable for students, lamented that the school fees increment by the present government will discourage youths who cannot fend for themselves and by extension plung them into criminality.
He said, “The leaders must be focused, bring the youths and chanel their energy in the right direction. Kaduna state for instance has alot of potentials in our young people that can be harnessed and improve the quality of livelihood.
“We will be creative to manage our resources. Development is only going on in the urban areas whereas it can be replicated in our respective localities too. Labour Party government by the grace of God will shift to rural communities to link them up with the urban setting.
“Women are the best managers in resources. So I will also involve them like it was done in Rwanda. Despite their genocide in 1994 they have risen so strong against all odds because of women involvement in politics.
“We will look at how to encourage education in the state rather than discouraging people. Present administration increase tuition fees by 300% which is a proof of Criminality. There are countries without oil but are doing well. But this oil thing has killed our country.
Hon. Asake who also condemned and described the killing of the LP Women Leader in Kaura local government area of the state, Mrs. Victorial Chintex as politically motivated, called on the security agencies to immediately arrest and prosecute her killer(s).
He added that, ‘security will be our number one agenda when we come on board because security is so important for the life of every citizen as contained in section 14 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
“Our agenda draws strength directly from that constitutional provision. From my experience both in the private and public sectors, I have an idea of what insecurity could cause.
“Today, many farmlands have been deserted by farmers due to banditry, kidnapping, terrorism and other forms of insecurity. So, if farmers cannot go to the farm, that means there will be food insecurity which will affect our survival as humans.
“Again, many schools have been shut down because of insecurity. Schools like Greenfield University, Joy Schools, Engravers College among others are examples of the unpleasant effect of insecurity.
“Investors have also moved their businesses to more secure states and countries.
“In fact, a lot of people who are privileged to build houses cannot stay there anymore. Some of them are now tenants in their former tenants’ properties”, Asake added.
