http://www.newsportng.com.ng Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN) Kaduna state chapter, has organized special prayers for the forthcoming general election starting this week Saturday the 25th February, 2023.
The program featured prayers, Words, Exortation and other religious activities at the Assemblies of God’s church, Kaduna with large number of Christian Faithfuls in attendance.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the event, the CAN Chairman, Kaduna state Rev. John Joseph Hayab said the program is pertinent so as to commit the peace of the nation into the hands of God as Nigerians go to the poll coming weekend to choose a leader that will pilot their affairs for the next four years.
He said, “we are Christians and as Christians we believed in the efficacy of prayers. The Bible says we should pray without season. Now we are having an important general election before us so it is very pertinent that we pray so that God can guide the heart of our Leaders, our people and also for the security agencies for God to protect them so that the whole exercise can go as expected.
“The heart of Kings are in the hands of God and he turns it to whatever direction he wants like the water. So we are here to pray God that the heart of INEC, our leaders, security and the political gladiators including everybody that will go out to vote will be controlled by God.
“So our prayers today is centered on God to direct them right in such a way that we will not have any form of contention so that people can have the enabling environment to go out and choose the candidate of their choice without fighting.
“There are so many innocent people who are suffering in the name of political differences and we don’t want that to happen.” He said.
Responding to question on whether the religious body has endorsed any particular candidate, Hayab noted that CAN will not endorsed any candidate for the people, however the quality to look out for in the candidate before casting their vote has already been specified and the people are aware.
He added that the religious body has not changed mind on same faith ticket, stressing that they had made their position known and stand by it even at the national level.
The Cleric who urged Nigerians to shun every form of inducement said no amount of money is worth collecting to imprisoned them for another period of four years, called on them to go to the poll and vote for credible leaders they believe can salvage the nation.
