http://www.newsportng.com.ng The opposition People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) has rejected the declaration of Senator Uba Sani of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) as Kaduna state Governor elect.
PDP through its state’s chairman, Hon. Hassan Hayet, during a press conference in Kaduna on Tuesday said the declaration of Sani by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) is a broad day robbery.
Sani of APC was declared winner and Governor elect, by the Kaduna state returning officer, Professor Lawal Suleiman Bilbis of Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto yesterday night, with 730,002 votes against PDP’s Isah Ashiru, who polled 719,196.
It could also be recalled that PDP yesterday in a press conference alledged that the delay in declaration of winner, was an attempt to sabotage the transparency of the process, there by surmounting the will of the good people of Kaduna state.
Hayet on Tuesday, reiterated that the party was aware that INEC will not do the right thing, haven delayed the process till Monday night.
He said, “You will please recall my Press Conference yesterday, 20th 2023 during which I demanded the use of authentic result on the INEC Server (IReV) as the only accepted results for declaration of governorship in our state.
“This was because the lack of transparency from INEC Officials was glaring and justice will NOT be done.
“Our fears were confirmed last night when the State’s gubernatorial Returning Officer, Prof. Lawal suleiman Bilbis, used the questionable results to declare Sen. Uba Sani of the APC as elected with 730,002 votes against 719,196 votes allocated to our Candidate, Rt. Hon. Mohamed Isah Ashiru of the PDP.
“The PDP rejects this result and the
declaration of Sen. Uba Sani as winner of the Gubernatorial elections of 18/03/2023 in our dear Kaduna State.
“May I seize this opportunity to sincerely thank our numerous supporters and the good people of Kaduna State for the mandate they have given to us and we want to assure them that the PDP will not leave any stone unturned in the quest for re-claiming their mandate.
“We have commenced actions necessary and in accordance with the law in view to arrest this glaring broad day robbery against the people of Kaduna State by APC Government and its Collaborators.
“I appeal for your continuous prayers and support with the firm assurance that we
will fight this cause to its logical conclusion.”
Hayet called on their teaming supporters to remain calm while they do everything within the armpit of the law to recover their mandate.
