http://www.newsportng.com.ng Corruption Trackers Initiative (TCTI) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be decisive and ruthless against corruption if he must succeed in office as the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Anti-Corruption group made the call through its Executive Director, Hamza Abidin and Director Legal Unit, Paul Okache ESQ, during a press conference held in Kaduna on Wednesday, said the President must not allow anybody irrespective of political affiliation, tribe or religion escape punishment if found culpable in any corruption case.
According to Hamza, TCTI have been able to Tracked over 17 Government Agencies and Parastatals in the area of corruption, accountability, value for money, prudency and transparency.
He disclosed that some of the organizations tracked were able to prove a good record of accountability, transparency and good governance, while some stinks in corruption and bad leadership.
Abidin, while lamenting on the ground that corruption has eaten deeply into the moral fabrics of most government agencies, he assert that most people openly condemn corrupt behayiour but they themselves perpetrate the same in their own capacity.
He further reiterated that when leaders are effective in performance, various
institutions can be build in an enduring manner, adding that It is purposeful and courageous for leaders to mobilize others to create the changes and not just waiting to manage them.
He said, “we were able to Tracked over 17 Government Agencies and Parastatals in the area of corruption, accountability, value for money, prudency and transparency. Some of these organisations were able to prove a good record of accountability, transparency and good governance, while some stinks in corruption and bad leadership.
“We are calling on the President, His excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be so decisive and ruthless on the issue of corruption if he want to succeed, the President must not allow anybody irrespective of political affiliation, tribe or religion escape punishment if found culpable in any corruption case.
“We found out that some agencies, ministries and parastatals engage in last minute
recruitments, procurement, contract awarding, auctioning etc. Some of them never follow due process and most of the activities are enmeshed in large scale corruption, secrecy and lack decorum for good governance.
Some politically expose person are already in high level arrangement to leave the country so as to escape been investigated and possible
prosecution.
“Some corrupt public official are already forming groups, which they intend to use in blackmailing some of the constituted authorities like EFCC, ICPC etc. to forestall any investigation about their stewardship.
“We shall be submitting our findings and report to constituted authority
for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Executive Director also disclosed that they have commenced the mobilization of atleast one hundred thousand (100,000) state volunteers to gear up for the new task
of NO ESCAPE ROUTE FOR THE LOOTERS, stressing that they are expected to monitored and report activities of suspected corrupt public officials and prepare public protest where necessary.
They also called on the immediate past Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle to make public his evidence of allegation of extortion against the EFCC Chairman or be ready to meet them in Court.
