http://www.newsportng.com.ng Since the institution of a court case challenging the victory of the Member representing Chikun/Kajuru federal constituency Hon. Ekene Abubakar Adams by the former member representing the constituency Hon. Yakubu Umar Barde on 16th May this year; the downtrodden and the good people of the constituency on whose mandate the chairman committee on sports is standing decided to make the courtroom situated at Bida road their new abode each time there’s a court sitting.
Just like the legendary song by R. Kelly ‘The Storm Is Over Now’ the people of the constituency had been in a tunnel and couldn’t see the light, and whenever they looked up couldn’t see the sky. This has been their plight since the return of democracy in 1999, the constituency has been in a terrible state of neglect compared to other constituencies across the country and every effort to fix and get it right did not yield any result. Thus, the quest for a man of impeccable character, empathy and honesty to right the wrongs caused by bad leadership becomes imperative.
For several years, the constituency went through twists and turns despite its electoral value as shown in the last governorship and state house of assembly election in the state. The constituency is still grappling with numerous challenges notably among them are lack of potable water, motorable roads, conducive atmosphere for learning in schools, especially in hinterlands and so on.
Now that the court case before the election petition tribunal has come and gone and the election of Hon. Ekene Abubakar upheld as member representing Chikun/Kajuru federal constituency; this is not the case where the winner takes it all but every contestant is a winner in the results announced by INEC and in the judgment of the tribunal with no one as victor and no one as vanquished. The most important thing is that the storm is over and the people can now heave a sigh of relief as the emergence of Ekene promises to bring good tidings and succor to all and sundry.
Moreover, the judgment delivered in his favour to allow him continue his good works at the Green chamber is in the best interest of the constituency and people of like minds. Ekene is no doubt on a rescue mission to salvage the constituency from doomsday, political slavery and catastrophic representation.
No wonder a few days after his election the Member doled out 10 brand new 500 KVA transformers with immediate alacrity to illuminate communities grappling with darkness in his constituency. This was a clear case of Genesis 1:3 – 4 when God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. Today, these communities have been fully separated from darkness courtesy of a man who is ready to go the extra mile to put smiles on the faces of those in need. This is clear proof that the storm is over and the mandate of Chikun/Kajuru constituency is in safe hands.
As the storm is over with greater things lying ahead of the constituency, it is important we know that Hon. Ekene cannot succeed alone without the support of every member of the constituency. Therefore, it is our collective responsibility to come together and give him the necessary support that he deserves irrespective of tribe, religion, ethnicity or political affiliation. This way, the constituency will be a force to recon with.
