Actionaid/GPD Hails Kaduna Cultural Troupe On Int’l Day of Peace
http://www.newsportng.com.ng ActionAid Nigeria through her phase III project, System and Structure Strengthening Approach against Radicalization to Violent Extremism (SARVE III) in partnership with Global Peace Development, (GPD) Kaduna State has congratulated all participants in the just concluded Cultural Peace Fiesta.
The cultural Peace Fiesta held in Kaduna earlier this week to commemorate the September 21st Int’l Day of Peace tagged “Action For Peace: Our Ambition for the #GlobalGoals.
The Fulani cultural troupe emerged the overall winner with 66.3%, Kujama cultural troupe came 2nd with 61%, while the Idoma redemption cultural troupe came 3rd with 60.6%.
Other cultural troupes that participated in the Peace Fiesta are: Bajju Nusasa, Kekemi, Danushi and Samba Bajju cultural groups, with all smiling home with compensation cash prizes.
Addressing the participants shortly after the competition, the Executive Director, Global Peace Development (GPD) Mr. Esike Ebruke, said “everybody is a winner.
He explained that the Cultural Peace Fiesta is organized to promote peace through cultural display, exhibition and hitch talents through arts competition so as to foster peaceful coexistence among diverse faiths, creeds and ethnic identity in other for them to live in peace and harmony.
Esike further reiterated that the GPD will not relent in her efforts to see a united Kaduna state, where citizens leverage on their diversity to promote peaceful coexistence amongst themselves, adding that the Peace Fiesta started with a football match, with Takau FC emerging as winner of the cup on the 17th of September, 2023.
In the same vein, the Program Coordinator, ActionAid Nigeria, SARVE III project, Mr. Aliyu Adamu, said the SARVE III project aims at equipping the grass root communities with sustainable ability, capacity, and structures to utilize available resources so as to prevent radicalization, respond to, withstand, and overcome impact of adverse violence extremism.
Adamu said the initiative will be achieved through cultural promotion, tolerance for peaceful coexistence and Socio-economic development, noting that their major target are Youths so as to get them engage in one craft or the other and discourage them from engaging in any form of violent.
He stressed that, for the SARVE III program, in Kaduna state, they have enrolled 300 youths both male and female to see how they can be trained on different skills acquisitions that has to do with livelihood components in terms of agriculture value change, so they can become self dependent.
