Future of Nigeria’s education rely on private institutions – Prof. Gwarzo
http://www.newsportng.com.ng The President, Proprietor’s of Private University in Africa, Professor Adamu Gwarzo, has said that the future of Nigeria education relies on the private institutions, particularly the University.
Prof. Gwarzo stated this during his courtesy visit to Greenfield university, Kaduna on Tuesday said every Nigerian know that the future of higher education is in private.
According to him, the best way to attract infrastructures including Information Communication Technology, (ICT) is through education, even as Nelson Mandela said that “education is the only weapon we can use to change the world.“
The Academician stressed that, “If you go to Europe, you will see a lot of development in ICT and other sectors. It is education that made their progress so without education there’s no industry; nothing at all. Education is the key of every country and the world.
“So without education, there is no economy. Every Nigerian know that the future of higher education is in private.
“As proprietor of four different universities in the world, our ambition is just to educate the future of Africa and the future of the young generation. Without university, there is no economy because if you are learned or exposed to education you are exposed to economy.” He said.
Accessing the facilities of the Greenfield University, Gwarzo said, “I am impressed to see the facilities, the lecturers and the combination of students from all Nigeria. We know it is not easy for the proprietor because if you could recall, the university was located in a bad zone but now he has relocated to the city where there is security and I think we must praise him and we pray God will give them the strength to start promoting higher education to the desired standard.”
In his remarks, the Founder/Pro-Chancellor, Greenfield University, Kaduna Engr. Simon Ifediora Nwakacha, said Gwarzo has been a good friend and have been trying to pay visit to the school since the last incidence where some of their students were kidnapped, leading to the death of five female students of the Greenfield University.
Nwakacha said that the courtesy visit is to know how they are coping and the school is glad to have him, while soliciting for assistance from relevant donor’s agencies so as to equip the school to global standard.
Reacting to some key thought advice dished out by the visitor, the Pro-Chancellor noted that “University is a learning environment. You hear new things on a continuous basis and you plan to execute them. We will try to follow up with all the things the President has said so that we can progress as institution. So you can expect greater achievements from us henceforth.”
