Kaduna to witness economic boom as Polo Tourney gallops off Oct, 31st
…… Club Management seeks Media, stakeholder’s collaboration
http://www.newsportng.com.ng Kaduna state will be witnessing heavy influx of people from different states and other parts of the world following the 2023 Kaduna Polo Club Tourney slated for 31st October to 12th November, 2023.
The influx of players, dignitaries and other supporters from different walks of life would leave Kaduna with no other option than to boost her economy as several commerce activities will be taking place within the tourney period.
The state according to the president of Kaduna Polo Club, Muhamed Babangida, will wear a new look as the club expects to receive different teams from the United States of America, (USA) Argentina, England, Columbia, South Africa and Egypt.
While soliciting for synergy among various stakeholders and the Media on Monday to make the tourney a success, the president said they have invested a lot of time and money to fix the pitch, remarking that the previous condition of the pitch was one of the negatives at the club in the sense that more of the participating teams were reluctant to come.
He also noted that the tournament is expected to gallop off from the 31st October – 5th November for the Goergian and El Amin cup and from the 8th-12th November, 2023 for the Emir of Katsina and Imani cup respectively, adding that it’s going to be a new beginning for Kaduna Polo club as there will also be other trophies that will be competed for in between the major trophies being competed for.
“We are going to play the prestigious Georgian cup, which is the largest and oldest cup in Africa, then the Imani cup, Emir of Katsina and El-Amin cup”.
Babangida reiterated that the cheque presentation that normally kick start the polo tournament is scheduled for Saturday 27th October, 2023 at the polo club where partners are expected to give their financial support to the organization of the tournament, even as he noted that they are ready to do it better this year than it used to be.
Speaking with Journalists shortly after the meeting, the tournament manager, Atiku Abubakar assured that every necessary measures have already been put in place to ensure a successful and accident free tournament, and further called on partners to give maximum support to the tournament.
Atiku said they are going to stage one of the best tournament and the partners, sponsors will not regret their investment, even as he noted that the good old days of Kaduna Polo Club is back for the people to enjoy.
The new executive management committee of Kaduna polo club includes: Muhammad Babangida as President, Brig. Gen Kapeh Kazir (Rtd) 1st vice president, Muhammad Baba Askira 2nd vice president, Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed as Secretary.
Others are Ahmed Bashir Sodangi- Treasurer, Ibrahim Abu lbrahim – polo Captain, Suleiman Sani Bello- Grounds, Atiku Abubakar Saleh- Tournament manager, Aliyu Danfatoma-Entertainment, Sani Ya’u Kura- Security, Bello Mudashir- House member, Tijjani Sani -Bar member and lbrahim Mohammed as Pony welfare officer.
