The newly crowned Eze, Morrison made the appeal in Kaduna on Friday in his acceptance speech during his coronation to take over the mantle of rulership of the Ndigbo Kingdom.
Lamenting the negative impacts of hard economy on the nation, Morrison said the economy is on a free fall because of tribalism from different ethnic, religious and other differences, adding that the sense of national identity and unity is weakened due to this menace.
While calling on relevant stakeholders to put up their heads in ensuring that suffering Nigerians are given adequate attention, Morrison said the traditional institution will continue to support government in their own capacity to bridge in the gap in respective communities no matter the differences.
He said, “economy in the nation is on a free fall because of tribalism from different ethnic, religious and other differences because the sense of national identity and unity is weakened.
“Nigerians have become so dazed with hardship, all that matters with most people is to eat whatever they see on their table. Government at all levels must reduce the influence of tribalism by promoting inclusivity, equal opportunity and unity amongst all citizens, thereby creating an environment where everyone can contribute to the development and progress of the nation.
“Leaders should actively promote unity and condemned tribalism. They should live by examples, demonstrating tolerance and respect for all ethnic and tribal groups.
“I called on government at ball levels to improve security architecture, curbing kidnapping and it’s attendant evil.
“I Appeal to the government to do the right thing to redeemed it’s image and cushion and sufferings and hardship people are currently facing.”
In his remarks, the Eze Isala of Iseketa Ancient Kingdom Abia state and Chairman of ohangwa traditional rulers council, His Royal Majesty, Eze Nelson Merengwa who coronated the newly crowned Ezediohamma 1 of Chikun Chiefdom, said he is delighted to witness the the day.
Eze Nelson who is also the 1st Deputy Chairman of Abia state Local Council of Ndieze further disclosed that Chief Morrison is an outstanding personality.
He believed that Morrison is capable of taking the Chiefdom to greater heights and urged that he work with all Igbo community and ensure that unity is ascertained in all asundry.
