Human rights violation major threat to global peace, justice, freedom – GPFN

The call was made in Kaduna earlier this week, by the Country Director, GPFN Rev John Joseph Hayab, during a one-day sensitization program held in Kaduna to commemorate the 2023 international human rights day.
Lamenting the negative impacts of rights violations that have led to many violence conflicts in contemporary society, Hayab represented by the Documentation Officer, GPFN Rimpyen Danjuma, noted that the recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation for equity and unity, capable of mitigating crisis in all forms and ramifications.
“Recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world.
“Durable peace and attainment of a violence-free society hinges on recognizing and respecting the fundamental human rights of all humans in the society.
“GPFN strongly holds on the vision of One Family under God therefore continues to preach and advocate that irrespective of tribe, religion or ethnicity, all humans have one ancestral root, hence must accept and treat one another as brothers and sisters. He said members of a family are known to love, tolerate and protect not violate one another’s rights.
“Gender Based Violence is considered to be one of the most prevalent and common human violations in the world, and as such I enjoined everyone present here and the society at large that we begin to take actions in our homes, schools, workplaces and communities as this can make a difference and tremendous impacts.” Hayab said.
In her remarks, the Assistant Admin Manager, Hope for the Village Child Foundation, (HVCF) Barrera Ruth, urged participants to serve as change agents to their homes and communities, bearing in mind the provisions of the law on basic human rights and responsibilities.
Ruth, while giving an overview on the focus of 2023 annual commemoration of the international rights day, tagged “Freedom, Equity and Justice for All,” reiterated that certain aspects of global laws governing the society is being neglected, especially in area of violence and girls, urged relevant stakeholders in the society to be their sisters keeper even as she asserted that women and girls are more vulnerable to violent extremism in the society.
