Building peace structures at local community pivotal to crisis free society, says GPF

http://www.newsportng.com.ng Global Peace Foundation, Nigeria (GPFN) has said that building peace structures at local community levels will guarantee unity and togetherness amongst residents of Kaduna state and by extension, Nigeria.
The Country Director, GPFN Rev. Dr. John Joseph Hayab, stated this during the Afan national annual festival and Bajju development Association, celebrated in Kagoro, every 1st January and 31st December respectively, with the aim to unite the people of southern Kaduna.
According to him, GPFN in the pursuit for peace, have set up five cooperative societies that are made up of Christians and Muslim women, adding that they will be given small capital to start up initiatives for self reliance.
Speaking on the theme of event, “Community Peace Building,” the Country Director donated an amount sum of N500, 000 to Kagoro women, while stressing that the NGO will do more to encourage the activeness of the people not only in Kagoro community or Kaduna State but also in every part of the Nigerian State.
Dr. Hayab, Who emphasized on the need for people to unite against every form of oppression as panacea for sustainable growth, reiterated that GPFN recognizes every human being as one family under God no matter their differences and called on well meaning individuals including government at all levels to be true ambassadors of peace, supporting the people in every way possible.
“Both Christians and muslims that live in that community must come to realize that they are human beings as they share the same ancestral origin. Though they defer in religion and other social learnings but they are human beings, because blood flows in their veins.” He said.
Remarking also, he reiterated that the Foundation have been trying to work among religious and community leaders, young people and women to encourage togetherness, expressing optimism that the return of the long Afan cultural festival that could not hold for almost four years now without doubt would foster lasting peace in the region.
“We are happy today because the long Afan Cultural Festival that people will always come that has stopped for about 3-4 years, today we are back.
“So for us, we want to appeal that we all give peace a chance. Let us talk peace, let us speak peace, let us gossip peace, let us preach peace, let us pray peace but remember that there is no peace where there is injustice. Without fairness and when people are not respected. “Hayab stressed.
