ADC holds submit in Kaduna, says Nigeria needs redirection

http://www.newsportng.com.ng African Democratic Congress, (ADC) has said that Nigeria needs redirection and a total departure from ill democracy that would enable her tackle present day challenges.
This is as the party in a mega National Working Committee , (NWC) submit held in Kaduna on Thursday said that the cost of governance in the country is most irresponsible.
Speaking at the one day submit at the Arewa House, Kaduna the National Chairman, ADC Chief. Ralph Nwosu said that the situation in Nigeria has become a source of worry to founding fathers who had devoted many years to ensure that there is a quality and valued driven political parties to lead the system.
Chief Raph who dismissed the speculations that the meeting aimed to form a merger that would dislodge the ruling party in 2027 asserted that the gathering is to identify their challenges and thereafter look for common ground to proffer amelioration in the view for opposition parties to become more stronger in a quest to save Nigeria’s 25-years of democracy.
He said, “the purpose of today is bringing stakeholders together who are purpose driven by nature to start shaking other people’s hands to rescue this country, because our democracy after 25 years is in great turmoil and we must save it.
“We have a lot of problems in this country. When you look at the eco system for instance, it’s ridden with corruption and all kinds of vices that is touching everybody without exception. The cost of governance is most irresponsible and that has become a source of worry for some of us has devoted many years to ensure that we have quality and valued driven political parties to lead the system.
“The biggest problem we have is that the political parties that supposed to be the foundational institution of any democracy is being marginalized. The institution is the person in power because there is no party, and we want to revive that spirit if you cannot submit to the value of the political party and grow a political party by way of building it, then your ability to govern is questionable.”
Declaring the one day submit open on the theme: ” Solid Political Party Structure Critical to the Sustainability of the Democratic Process the Submit Chairman, Hon. Muhammed Lawal Nalado, averred that the meeting in line with it’s theme is apt.
He stressed that the ADC in its wisdom sat down and agree within themselves to invite stakeholders to see how they can solve the problems of smaller political parties in Nigeria and address issues that affects the electorates, adding that the need for democracy to be sustained can never be overemphasized.
Hon. Nalado, who is also the former National Chairman of Accord Party, (AP) and two times National Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Committee, (IPAC) called on smaller political parties to embrace unity as panacea to win political elective positions at all levels.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the event, the National chairman of IPAC, Hon. Yusuf Dantalle asserted that in trying to solve the problem, there is need to understand the symptoms.
Dantalle who faulted the power vested on governors to control local government funds said that the foundation of Nigeria’s democracy have been bastardized by politicians and called for a reform that would free the people by allowing them to decide who govern them at the government that is closer to them.
In the same vein, the ADC chairman, Kaduna state Hon. Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha who is the host chairman revealed that the #Kaduna Submit 2024 is crucial for the survival of the party not only in Kaduna state but in the whole of the northwest region.
He expressed optimism that the ADC by the grace of God will take over the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House from the ruling APC come 2027.
