MCRISSAR Foundation harps on raising male champions for women, girls during menstruation
…donates over 10,000 pads to Northwest school girls in 4-years

http://www.newsportng.com.ng Non governmental Organization, MCRISSAR Foundation has reiterated its commitment to raise male champions that will support their female counterparts during menstruation period.
The Chief Executive Officer, CEO MCRISSAR Foundation, Barrister Rabi Adamu Musa stated this in Kaduna while commemorating the 2024 annual campaigns on Menstrual hygiene Day, with the theme: “Period Friendly World.”
Lamenting the spate of stigmatization on girls because of menstruation, Rabi disclosed that educating the male folks on the subject will provide them with adequate knowledge so that they can stand and encourage the female gender during the period.
Rabi, who advocated for government subsidies on menstrual products during the event disclosed that MCRISSAR Foundation in collaboration with HOLY Corp, has donated over 10,000 sanitary pads to Northwest school girls in 4-years, urging government to come up with policies that would make menstruation products readily available for women and the girl child.
“One of the things that we do at MCRISSAR Foundation is that we try as much as possible to raise male champions. By selecting the students we did not just narrow it down to the female counterparts. We have to be very intentional.
“We are very intentional because we want to talk to the male champions about menstruation and menstrual hygiene. We have condom litred almost every where, so why cant we have sanitary pads all around too. Alot of girl child are out of school simply because they cannot afford menstruation products.
“So we are advocating for policies that would encourage the use of this product and also make them readily available, affordable and very accessible to the common people.” Rabi said.
In her remarks, the Founder, Heal Our Land Yeshua, HOLY Corp Sarai Korpacz said menstrual cycle is viable for the continuation of life.
Sarai, who regarded menstruation as a call of nature, advocated the need for humanity to support and celebrate the resilience, dignity, strength, beauty and the peculiar nature of women as basis essentials of life in all its form.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the event, Ayomide Olukayode from FEZON school, Ungwan Pama, Kaduna said “the role I am going to play when it comes to menstruation is to encourage them because they are really passing through a lot. The pains, scrams, mood swings shows that they are strong and we need to stand by them and treat them right. I will communicate the message appropriately to fellow male friends when the need arises.”
Asked on new lessons learned, another participant, Juliet Umunna from Onward Baptist School, Ungwan Maigero Kaduna said that she had learned to track her menstruation. Juliet disclosed that she never had adequate knowledge that menstruation can be tracked, adding that subsequently she will take proactive measures from the Pre-menstruation Syndrome, (PMS) so that proper hygienes can be observed.
