Protest against Tinubu will do Nigeria more harm – Arewa group warns

http://www.newsportng.com.ng Arewa Concerned Citizens Forum, (ACCF) has warned against the danger of staging protests against the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led administration, saying that it will do Nigeria more harm than good.
Recalled, that various groups, earlier this month scheduled 1st -10th of August, 2024 to protest against what they termed as Anti-people polices of the current administration of president Tinubu, following the alledged hardship being experienced by the citizenry.
In a press statement issued to newsmen in Kaduna on Sunday by the
Co-conveners, ACCF Dr. Victor Bobai and Hajiya Mairo Ibrahim Funtua, said that they have carefully considered the potential consequences of joining the protest and have decided that it is in the best interest of their members to prioritize their safety and well-being.
Citing concerns about potential risks and dangers associated with the protests, ACCF avered that citizens should rather channel their grievances through their elected representatives against staging protests that may likely be hijacked by miscreants and hoodlums and thereby causing the nation more problem than it can solved.
“They reiterated that, “We are mindful of the possibility of protests being hijacked by extremist groups or agent provocateurs, leading to violence and chaos. Additionally, we are concerned about the potential for emotional escalation, lack of clear leadership, external manipulation, social media amplification, police provocation, anonymity, and pre-existing tensions to contribute to a dangerous and unpredictable situation.
“In light of these factors, we have made the difficult decision not to participate in the protest. We believe that this decision is in line with our commitment to promoting peaceful and constructive dialogue, and we urge all Nigerians to prioritize peace and stability at this critical time.
“We call on all citizens to remain calm and law-abiding, and to seek alternative and peaceful means of expressing their grievances and advocating for their rights. We also urge the government to listen to the concerns of its citizens and to work towards addressing the issues that have led to this point.”
