http://www.newsportng.com.ng A civil society organization, Betta Edu Media Centre, has petitioned the National Security Adviser (NSA), Inspector General of Police, and the Department of Security Services (DSS) over threats to their lives and families.
It could be recalled that the Media Center at the weekend accused the embattled Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Minister, Dr. Betta Edu of ”used and dump,” adopting the Chief Executive Officer of QAT Foundation, Hajiya Halimat Tejuosho Adenike as best candidate for the job.
In a press statement signed by Abubakar Abdullahi Ja’afar from Kano, Halimat Muhamma, FCT, Abubakar Kayarda, Niger, Bulama Muhammad Bukar, Borno
Sani Bello Ibrahim, Katsina Tanko Muhammad Ibrahim, Nasarawa and Ahmad Muhammad from Taraba State, on Monday, the group alledged that Hon. Yusi Buba, Special Assistant on Youth Mobilization to Dr. Betta Edu, and Yusuf Raul Gombe, Convener of Betta Edu New Media Center, have been threatening them and their families after they refused to withdraw their endorsement.
The group also claimed that despite possessing documented evidence of their tenure under Dr. Betta Edu, including duly signed appointment letters and an access card, Hon. Yusi Buba has denied knowledge of their appointment and labeled them an “unrecognized group.”
While reiterating their call on president Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint Tejuosho for the Ministerial position, the Media Centre called on the security agencies to invite Hon. Yusi Buba and Yusuf Raul Gombe for questioning and documentation, to ensure their safety and security, and to prevent any potential harm.
“We have recorded a phone call from Hon. Yusi Buba on Sunday, August 18, 2024, attempting to resolve our differences, which we are willing to make public.
“Regrettably, upon our refusal to acquiesce to their demands, Hon. Yusi Buba and Yusuf Raul Gombe have resorted to threatening calls, promising to ‘deal with us and our families’.
“The Beta Edu Media Centre is compelled to bring to the attention of the relevant security agencies, and the general public, the recent attempts by Hon. Yusi Buba and Yusuf Raul Gombe, to deny our organization’s existence and endorsement of Hajiya Halimat Tejuosho Adenike for the Ministerial position.
“In light of these developments, we call on the National security Adviser (NSA), Inspector General of Police and the Department of Security Services (DSS) to invite Hon. Yusi Buba and Yusuf Raul Gombe for questioning and documentation, to ensure our safety and security, and to prevent any potential harm.
“Our position remains rooted in a commitment to truth, integrity, and the welfare of Nigerians, inline with the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda with his determination to clamp down on national corrupt practices. We will not be swayed by attempts to blackmail or silence us by those who are doing everything possible to protect their selfish interest.
“Finally, We reiterate our call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint Hajiya Halimat Tejuosho Adenike as the new Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, without delay. This appointment is crucial in addressing the nation’s current challenges.” parts of the statement reads.
