Kaduna Ready To Haul Medals At National Youth Games – Sports Commissioner

http://www.newsportng.com.ng The Commissioner, Ministry Sports Development Kaduna State, Professor Ben Gugong has expressed optimism that the state’s athletes will be giving a good account of themselves as they storm the National Youth Games, (NYG) in Asaba, September 9th, 2024.
Professor Ben Gugong stated this, while fielding questions from Journalists at the closing ceremony of the SWAN Dr. Mohammed Maina Media Badminton Tournament, held on August 23rd to 24th, 2024 at the Exclusive Badminton Club, Kaduna State University, (KASU).
Assuring citizens of the state that preparations for the state’s participation is in top gears as they look forward to surpassing all previous editions medals hauls, he asserted that the athletes would go into closed camp to finalize their training ahead of the tournament.
He said, “as you are all aware, His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani is a sports loving governor who will ensure proper welfare of all athletes to spur them into winning medals for the state,” he said.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the game, National President Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN), Comrade Isaiah Kemje Benjamin described the competition that brought several media outlets together as apt, calling on other State chapters to emulate their Kaduna counterpart.
The SWAN President who also participated in the tournament stressed that, “I must commend the Kaduna State Chapter for this laudable initiative. It has brought together our members and other journalists competing for their media houses and chapels of the Nigeria Union of Journalists. (NUJ)
“As you can see, I participated in this tournament and besides the fun I derived, I also won a prize in the doubles category, though I lost out in the singles,” he added.
On his part, the SWAN Chairman, Kaduna state chapter, Comrade Shehu Abdullahi appreciated the efforts of the players and promised to improve upon lapses before the second edition, soon. journalists together as panacea for peaceful coexistience among sport lovers and Journalists.
