IPAC holds General Assembly in Kaduna, Sets Agenda For Political Parties

http://www.newsportng.com.ng The Kaduna State chapter of the Interparty Advisory Council of Nigeria, (IPAC) has held its General Assembly meeting in Kaduna state.
New subcommittee was also inaugurated to pioneer the affairs of the Council, amidst promises to recreate a new IPAC with positive direction and vision.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Kaduna on Saturday, the IPAC Chairman in Kaduna state, Hon. Ahmad Tijjani Mustapha, reiterates his commitment to play a vital role in shaping Kaduna State’s political landscape and promoting good governance, accountability, and transparency in the electoral process.
He highlighted the achievements of his leadership since assuming office seven months ago, including opening a bank account for IPAC, which had been without one for five years, and inaugurating a Steering Committee, which had been absent for the same period.
Mustapha commended the cooperation and support of party chairmen and executives, saying that IPAC in Kaduna State was now a united team, ready to work together for the collective interest of the people and political parties.
“The era of division and disunity is over. We are now a united team, ready to work together for the progress of our state and our political parties,” he said.
Remarkably, Dr. Abdul Isaq, Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Kaduna State on Stakeholders Relations and IPAC Focal, described the general assembly meeting and inauguration of the new subcommittee as strategic.
Abdul said, “IPAC is not an opposition, as every political party registered with INEC is a member of IPAC, including INEC, which has a voting power. Our responsibility is to advise political parties and create awareness, increase sensitization, including voters education.”
On her part, the Chairman, Kaduna state Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM), Hajiya Hajara Muhammad, assured that the commission is working tirelessly to conduct the Local Government elections as scheduled for October 19, 2024.
Hajara said, “we are on our toes to ensure that we conduct the LG elections as contained in our timetable. We want to adhere to the law that states that after three years, there should be an election for new leadership.”
She, on the other hand solicited for full support to succeed in the task ahead, saying that a peaceful, free, and fair election is only possible with collective effort.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by representatives of 19 political parties and elected executives of IPAC Kaduna State, who expressed their support and commitment to the new subcommittee.
