Nenadi, Datti not members of Labour Party – Kaduna LP
http://www.newsportng.com.ng Kaduna state chapter of the Labour Party, (LP) has said that the newly elected National Caretaker Committee Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman and Vice Presidential Candidate, Sen. Datti Baba Ahmed are not recognized as members of the party in Kaduna state.
This is as the party stated that Nenadi and Datti only became influential following their association with their former presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, urging them to approach their wards for proper registration.
In a press statement issued to newsmen in Kaduna on Friday, signed by the PRO, Labour Party Kaduna state, Comrade Idris Yusuf the party fumed at what they termed as “the illegal National Convention, Spearheaded by the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti and Peter Obi, an exercise that produced Senator Nenadi Usman and other executives.
Others who signed the press text are the Kaduna State Labour Party Vice Chairman, Hon Bulus Maisamari, State’s
Youth Leader, Hon. Austine Aniagu, Zaria LG Chairman, Kabiru Saidu Bamalli, among other Local Government Party Chairmen.
According to the state LP who pitched their tents behind their embattled National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, neither Nenadi or Datti is known in their ward to be members of LP, which led to the defeat of the party in Zaria and other LG in Kaduna state.
They called on them to identify with the party, starting from their grassroots before eyeing any national position. The executives also warned erring members to be mindful of their comments operations and they will not hesitate to sanction any member of the party that is found wanting
“Those causing confusion and making attempt to hijack Labour Party are not duly registered members, neither are they committed members of the Party. Senator Nenedi who is an interim Chairperson of a faction of the party is not a registered member of the party but only came to limelight when her name appeared at the presidential campaign council of The labour party in 2023.
“Remarkably, Nenadi has never participated in Labour Party activities and it is very unfortunate that Mr. Peter Obi and his co travellers will appoint their support group member to be an Acting National Chairman of the party after enjoying all the welcome by our National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure.
“On a similar note, the LP in Zaria where the Former Vice Presidential Candidate of the labour Party, Ahmed Datti Baba hail, has never seen him associating with the party at the ward or local government level. This resulted to the party’s poor performance in Zaria during the 2023 general elections.
“Let us equally draw this word of caution to the Senator Nenadi’s groups who are planning to carry out a fund raising event for candidates of the party in Kaduna state towards the upcoming Local government elections.
“For the records, the organizers of this event did not approach the party leadership in the state for the approval before planning the said event, as such, going ahead with such event will translates to fraud and will be sanctioned by security agencies.
“We want to make a passionate appeal to the Senators, Nenadi Usman and Ahmed Datti Baba to humble themselves and register as a bonafide member of the party and to also engage in grassroot politics, against seeking for relevance to the detriment of key actors that are pioneering the affairs of the party.
“We further want to advice the former party presidential flag bearer, Mr. Peter Obi to stop encouraging factions and divisions among the members of Labour Party. We want to categorically state that we disassociate ourselves from the leadership of Senator Nenadi Usman as we will continue to support the National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure for the party’s interest and that of the Nigeria’s populace.”
