Fmr. NUJ Chairmen, NAWOJ, Other Officials Endorse Abdulgafar/Santos project for Kaduna election
…Says “it’s time to elect a Leader that’ll respect us“

http://www.newsportng.com.ng Former Chairmen and other Ex-leaders of the Nigeria Union Of Journalists, (NUJ) Kaduna state Council has endorsed Abdulgafar Alabelewe and Gambo Santos for the forthcoming Council election slated for 16th December 2024.
The endorsement took place during the campaign flagoff ceremony at the NUJ Kaduna Council Secretariat.
Speaking at the program in Kaduna on Wednesday, the former presidential candidate of NUJ, Comrade Muhammad Garba, said that Kaduna Council despite her favourable environment has suffered serious setback due to poor leadership.
Describing Abdulgafar as the ideal man for the job, Comrade Garba, who was also a former Chairman of Kaduna NUJ asserted that it’s time to elect a Leader that can respect the people.
“The current state of Kaduna NUJ is pathetic. We need a leader who respects us and can restore the dignity of this council. On December 16, I will be here for the swearing-in of our new Chairman, Abdulgafar. Nobody should sit on the fence. Let’s all come out and support this project.”
Speaking also Comrade Yusuf Idris, NUJ Zonal Vice President, praised the campaign’s success, urging everyone to support Alabelewe’s candidacy.
He lamented that members no longer come to the NUJ since the emergence of the current leadership and as such solicited for members’ support to rescue the noble profession.
In the same vein, the immediate past Chairman of the Kaduna state Council of NUJ, Comrade Adamu Yusuf, expressed his alignment with the Abdulgafar and Gambo camp saying that he’s not neutral and that he belongs to the Abdulgafar’s camp.
Remarking also, the Chairperson, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, (NAWOJ) Kaduna Chapter, Comrade Fatima Aliyu declared her support, saying, that the women are ready to give Abdulgafar their full support.
She stressed that, “Abdulgafar and Santos is our choice. Come Monday, December 16, we will celebrate his victory.”
Earlier, on his part, Umar Sarkin-Fada, the Director General of the Abdulgafar/Santos team thanked supporters for the massive turnout at the flag-off campaign.
“The overwhelming crowd has sent a clear message,” he concluded.
According to him, the stage is set for the December 16, 2024, election, as Abdulgafar Alabelewe remains a favorite to assume leadership and drive transformative progress in the Kaduna NUJ Council.
