The event, which brought together members of the Ekene Gida-Gida group, widows, Ambassadors and other less privileged individuals, reflected the late Honourable’s deep commitment to community empowerment.
During his lifetime, Hon. Ekene, who represented the Chikun/Kajuru federal constituency, was known for his unwavering dedication to uplifting the vulnerable, routinely hosting similar gatherings to provide support and encouragement.
In a touching address, Hon. Alex Adanu expressed his resolve to continue the good work of his late mentor and friend, noting that the family must never tear apart because of Ekene’s demise.
“Hon. Ekene was a beacon of hope for many. He believed in touching lives, especially those of widows, the less privileged, and young people seeking direction. Today, I stand here not just as someone who worked closely with him but as a member of this family who is committed to preserving his legacy,” Adanu said.
The event saw the distribution of food items, financial support, and other essentials to hundreds of attendees. Speaking to the audience, Alex emphasized, “Hon. Ekene taught us that leadership is about service, about being there for those who need you the most. Though he is no longer with us, his vision lives on, and I am here to assure you that this bond he created with his people will never be broken.”
Many attendees expressed gratitude for the continuation of such initiatives. A widow, who spoke on the condition of anonymity said, “Hon. Ekene was like a father to us, and seeing Hon. Alex step up in this way gives us hope. It feels like he is still here with us.”
The gathering was marked by an atmosphere of unity and hope, as Hon. Alex urged supporters to continue rallying behind the values and principles that the late Honourable stood for.
“Together, we will keep building a constituency that thrives on care, equity, and progress,” he concluded.
Alex further called on the supporters to remain united and focus as regarding the forthcoming by-election for the constituency, stressing that the group can only support a candidate who will continue with the legacy of the Late Lawmaker and not politicians who want to represent their pocket.
The event served as a poignant reminder of the impact of Hon. Ekene’s life and the strength of the community he built one that remains resilient and united even in his absence.
May the Soul of Late Hon. Ekene Abubakar Adams rest in perfect peace.
