Yuletide: Gov. Sani donates 2 cows to Kaduna journalists
http://www.newsportng.com.ng Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani has made true one of his campaign promises that he was going to make welfare of citizens among his priorities, as he donated two cows to journalists in the State for the Christmas and new year celebrations.
The Kaduna State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) received the cattle with gratitude to the governor.
The cows were slaughtered on new year eve and shared across all the Chapels of the NUJ in the State.
The donation was made through the office of the Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Malam Ibraheem Musa who handed over the animals to the NUJ chairman, Alhaji Abdulgafar Alabelewe.
The CPS urged NUJ members to kindly accept the gift as a gesture aimed at strengthening partnership with journalists in the State, believing that the relationship would be sustained to ensure meaningful development in the State.
Responding, the NUJ Chairman, Abdulgafar Alabelewe expressed gratitude to the State government for the gesture, saying the gift would go a long way to enrich the meals of his members at the festivities.
“It is heartwarming to receive this type of gift. We didn’t expect this but truly, this is a sign that the government is ready for good relationship with with our great Union and journalists in general in the State.
“We want to assure the State government of our commitment to cordial working relationship especially through the office of the CPS for better understanding”. Abdulgafar said.
Meanwhile, victory party was held on new year day in honour of Abdulgafar who emerged the State Chairman of the NUJ on December 16, 2024 having defeated the incumbent chairman of the Council, Hajiya Asma’u Yawo Halilu.
