Global Peace, Religious Leaders Advocate Stronger Interfaith Unity in Kaduna

http://www.newsportng.com.ng As part of activities marking the 2025 World Interfaith Harmony Week, the Global Peace Foundation Nigeria (GPFN) has reiterated its dedication to promoting religious harmony and inclusivity among diverse faith communities.
In line with this year’s theme, “Everyone Belongs – Celebrating Diversity and Fostering Belonging!”, GPFN partnered with Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and members of the Hindu community for an advocacy visit to the Kaduna State Peace Commission.
The visit was aimed at strengthening interfaith collaboration while reinforcing the importance of inclusivity, mutual respect, and peaceful engagement in building a cohesive society.
Speaking during the engagement, GPFN Country Director, Rev. Joseph John Hayab, emphasized the need for sustained dialogue among religious groups.
He noted that rather than being a source of division, religious diversity should serve as a foundation for unity and cooperation.
“We coexist as neighbors, friends, and members of one human family, regardless of our religious backgrounds. It is imperative that we create an environment where everyone feels included, valued, and respected,” he stated.
Rev. Hayab further expressed optimism that GPFN’s collaboration with the Kaduna State Peace Commission would enhance interfaith relations through the promotion of tolerance, dialogue, and respect for human dignity.
He also urged religious leaders and stakeholders to champion peacebuilding efforts, highlighting the role of peaceful coexistence in national development.
As part of its awareness drive, GPFN is set to extend its advocacy to the media, with a scheduled live appearance on Liberty Radio. The discussion will feature officials from the Kaduna Peace Commission and faith leaders, who will engage the public on embracing diversity and fostering interfaith dialogue.
World Interfaith Harmony Week was established in 2010 by King Abdullah II and Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad of Jordan following a United Nations General Assembly resolution. Since then, it has provided a platform for strengthening interfaith relations globally.
In Nigeria, GPFN continues to drive religious harmony through its One Family Under God initiative, which promotes unity, shared values, and peaceful coexistence.
Through sustained advocacy and partnerships, the foundation remains committed to fostering an inclusive society where all individuals feel a sense of belonging.
