Northern CAN Chairman Rev. Hayab Visits Abdulgafar, Commiserates with Family Over Wife’s Demise

http://www.newsportng.com.ng Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory, Reverend John Joseph Hayab, on Friday has paid a condolence visit to the Kaduna residence of the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council, Alhaji Abdulgafar Alabelewe.
The visit followed the death of Abdulgafar’s wife, Hajara, who passed away earlier in the week after a brief illness.
During the visit, Rev. Hayab described death as an inevitable reality for all mankind, noting that from the Christian perspective, it is a passage every human being must undergo, whether through sickness, accident, or other circumstances.
He explained that the holy scriptures affirm that it is appointed unto man once to die, stressing that his mission was to console the NUJ Chairman and pray that God would remain his shield and grant him favour both before Him and before men.
“It is appointed for a man to die once. I came here to console you and to pray that God continues to be your shield, granting you favour from Him and from men,” he said.
The Northern CAN Chairman also commended Abdulgafar for his contributions to national development through journalism and leadership. He prayed that God would turn the painful loss into a blessing and prosper the works of his hands.
In his response, Abdulgafar explained that his wife succumbed to complications arising from malaria. He expressed gratitude to Rev. Hayab for the visit, describing it as a thoughtful gesture that brought comfort and encouragement to him and his family during their moment of grief.
He also prayed for God’s continued blessings upon Rev. Hayab, asking that he be strengthened in his leadership and service to humanity.
The late Hajara, who died at the age of 33, was remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and community servant. She is survived by her husband and four children.
