65th Independence: AYCF Urges Nigerians To Remain Hopeful Despite Challenges

http://www.newsportng.com.ng The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has called on Nigerians not to lose faith in the country, stressing that despite daunting challenges, the nation’s resilience remains a source of hope.
President of AYCF, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, made the call in Kaduna on Wednesday during the celebration of Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary, which featured a colourful display of bikers and car racers.
Shettima, who reflected on Nigeria’s six and a half decades of independence, said the country’s survival in the face of threats to its unity was a testimony to the collective strength of its people.
“Whether we like it or not, the fact that we remain as a nation in our quest to build a united country is worth celebrating. Even when perceived enemies try to disintegrate us, we have stayed together. That shows resilience,” he said.
The youth leader also urged citizens to support the administration of President Bola Tinubu, whom he described as “a true democrat and product of struggle,” noting that the government was making efforts to stabilise the economy and tackle insecurity in the North.
On mounting calls for him to contest in the 2027 senatorial election, Shettima maintained that it was too early to dwell on politics.
“It is too early to politicise the issue. I’ve heard the calls, and I appreciate them. When the time is right, I will respond accordingly,” he stated.
The event, organised by the youth-driven Capacity Movement, later climaxed with the group’s endorsement of Shettima for the Kaduna Central Senatorial seat in 2027, a move that drew loud applause and set tongues wagging about his political future.
