Group to launch 2 million community intelligence volunteers to support Gen. Musa

The Citizens Support for Good Governance has intensified its nationwide mobilisation in support of the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd.), urging unified national action, strategic collaboration, and sustained security investment to secure Nigeria well beyond the 2027 political cycle.
The organisation also announced a three-day national engagement in Ikole-Ekiti aimed at unveiling a two-million-member Community Intelligence Volunteers Network to reinforce the Defence Ministry’s current security restoration efforts.
In a statement issued to journalists in Kaduna on Tuesday by the National Coordinator, Dr. Olayinka Adeosun, and the National Secretary, Malam Hamisu Danbaba Malunfashi, the group said that the widespread jubilation that greeted General Musa’s appointment reflected an unusual national consensus that cut across regions and interests.
Adeosun described the Defence Minister as a unifying figure whose professionalism and discipline have renewed public confidence in government’s capacity to defeat insecurity.
He explained that the recognition shown to the Defence Minister must translate into strategic national support backed by adequate resources, strengthened institutions, and community-driven intelligence structures capable of delivering sustainable peace. He further noted that General Musa occupies a defining position in Nigeria’s collective effort to rebuild the security architecture, defeat terrorism, and ensure continuity in national stability beyond the period of political transitions.
CSGG identified the rapid modernisation of military technology, expansion of intelligence networks, strengthened border security, youth-focused deradicalisation initiatives, and the adoption of a long-term national stabilisation doctrine as areas requiring urgent national attention.
The organisation emphasised the need for modern aerial assets, satellite-based intelligence systems, armoured mobility equipment, and night-operation capabilities, noting that these tools are essential to counter the growing sophistication of non-state actors. It also underscored the importance of rural-urban intelligence coordination and community-based early-warning systems as Nigeria continues to confront dispersed security threats.
In its view, stability can only be achieved when national security planning transcends election cycles and enjoys consistent leadership, adequate funding, and a unifying national narrative. Dr. Adeosun said the country cannot afford periodic disruptions to its security philosophy and stressed that General Musa represents continuity, professionalism, and national cohesion at a time when Nigeria requires these qualities the most.
The forthcoming engagement in Ikole-Ekiti will bring together youth leaders, civil society organisations, religious blocs, advocacy groups, community networks, and security analysts to strengthen civic participation in national security. The initiative is designed to launch a nationwide early-warning structure, expand patriotic messaging, and train volunteers on community coordination, fact-checking, and intelligence reporting. Dr. Adeosun described the movement as a historic civic contribution to national peacebuilding, explaining that the volunteers will act as peace ambassadors whose timely and accurate intelligence will support ongoing government efforts.
CSGG also addressed circulating speculations concerning pressure on the Defence Minister, insisting that General Musa must not resign at a time when national confidence in his leadership remains strong. The organisation described him as a patriotic stabiliser whose commitment to duty has earned him widespread respect. It maintained that the calls for resignation do not reflect the will of Nigerians who, in its view, remain united behind his leadership in the fight against terrorism.
The group urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Assembly to provide the Defence Minister with full operational backing, legislative support, adequate funding, institutional autonomy, and strengthened inter-agency coordination. According to Malam Danbaba, security cannot be weakened by bureaucratic delays when the nation expects decisive outcomes.
The statement affirmed CSGG’s belief that General Musa is divinely positioned for this defining national assignment and should not be discouraged from carrying out a responsibility that is both strategic and generational. The group concluded by reiterating that Nigerians stand firmly behind him, that government must support him without hesitation, and that all security institutions must work cohesively to ensure victory over terrorism.
It added that no nation celebrates a leader as a solution and then deprives him of the tools needed to succeed, stressing that the moment of renewed national optimism should be matched with investments in technology, intelligence, personnel, and community mobilisation.
