Kaduna Police Invite Senator Lawal Adamu Over Gov. Uba Sani’s Petition

By Austine Agbo Emmanuel, Kaduna

http://www.newsportng.com.ng Kaduna State Police Command has invited Senator Lawal Adamu Usman over allegations of threat to life and false claims levelled against him by Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State.

The invitation was conveyed in a letter signed by the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, CP Rabiu Muhammad, following a petition submitted by Governor Sani through the state Ministry of Justice.

According to the letter, dated last week, the senator representing Kaduna Central is expected to appear before the Commissioner of Police at the command headquarters on Monday, September 1, to respond to the allegations.

The governor accused the senator of making false and injurious statements capable of inciting unrest and undermining peace and security in the state.

The latest development adds a new twist to the political face-off between both men. Only weeks ago, Senator Usman petitioned the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, accusing Governor Sani of political persecution and abuse of state institutions during the August 16 by-elections in Kaduna State.

In the ICC petition, filed on behalf of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the by-election, the senator alleged that security agencies, including the police, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), were deployed to arrest opposition figures and confiscate party funds. He claimed that over 25 PDP stakeholders, including zonal leaders, women mobilisers, and a serving lawmaker, were unlawfully detained on election day, while ₦26 million meant for logistics was seized.

Senator Usman argued that the actions amounted to political persecution and suppression of democratic participation, urging the ICC to investigate and establish criminal liability against the governor.

Neither Governor Sani nor Senator Usman has made any public comment on the fresh police invitation as of the time of filing this report.
