Nasir Elrufai for his unrelenting effort in ensuring that citizens of the state are carried along in partnership with both micro and macroeconomic sectors, as one of the vital requirement of the Fiscal Responsibility Law of 2016.
The sensitizing Coach, Open Government Partnership, (OGP) Kaduna State, Mr. Joshua James, gave the applause, during the Medium Term Expenditure Framework, (MTEF) held at the State’s Budget and Planning Commission, Conference Hall, in Kaduna
The open government partnership (OGP) is a multilateral initiative that aims to secure concrete commitments from national and sub-national governments to promote open government, empower citizens, fight corruption, and harness new technologies to strengthen governance.
According to Joshua, the transparency nature of the government has strengthen the public financial management system in ensuring transparency, accountability and improvement of service delivery to the citizens, adding that Kaduna is not just one of the best in Nigeria but the world at large.
He said: “The 2023 budget estimates will be based on the MTEF document, as it has greater macroeconomic balance and budgetary predictability for state’s efficient use of public finances.
“The MTEF document also aims at improving sectoral resource allocation by effectively prioritising all expenditures, based on the state’s socio-economic programmes as it has historically provided more realistic estimates” He added.
The MTEF event, covered several presentations from different partners, including that of the the Community Development Charter, (CDC) where the community can priotise their needs based on order of importance and transmit electronically for necessary action from either the Local or state government.
Reacting to the CDC innovation, the Permanent Secretary, Kaduna State Planning and Budget Commission, Mr. Bashir Muhammed, said the innovation is apt, considering the fact that the world has gone global, expressing satisfaction on the ground that citizens of the state will now be involved directly in the budgeting process.
The Permanent Secretary, further assured that the Kaduna State Government will adhere to the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) recommendations in the formulation of its 2023 budget for sustainable development.
